Catching Up With Our Lovely Ladies

As a small business within the adaptive clothing industry, we value the support of every single one of our customers. From the very start of the brand just 5 years ago, there have been a few in particular who have supported, inspired and stuck with us throughout the journey.

Despite the past year restricting us from meeting with the ladies in person once again, we have been lucky enough to catch up virtually with each of them. We discussed what has changed since we last spoke, lockdown life and their ongoing love of fashion (including adaptive designs to make dressing a little easier).

Over the next few weeks we will be sharing our chats with each of them, to share a slice of their inspiration, unique style and a few gorgeous pictures of them fashioning the Able Label range!

This week we have been talking to Linda, one of our fabulous volunteer models from the first Able Label photoshoot (captured in the centre above). Showing such confidence and her love of fashion, Linda proved that she did not let her osteoarthritis get in the way of feeling and looking brilliant which we are glad to see hasn't changed. For the photoshoot Linda modelled our jersey wrap tops, which she loved and suited her so perfectly that we had to name them after her! Hello Linda!

Firstly, tell us how you are?
It is six years since the photo shoot that I was asked to come along to, I can’t believe that, therefore I am six years older! Lockdown has meant being away from family and friends like everyone else, however we have had to do it.

How have you found the past year and lockdown life? Have you discovered any new hobbies or past-times?

I have kept busy reading, knitting and walking, 4/5 miles a day.

That's a lot of walking!

Other than the impact of the global pandemic, have any other aspects of your life changed since we saw you back in 2016?

Health wise I remain pretty good, the pain from neck and back is still quite bad, but I manage it.

How about your wonderful style, has this changed or adapted in any way? What is your favourite item in the updated Able Label collection?

My style hasn’t changed much, I have always been a trousers or jeans lady, with longline jumpers and cardigans large blouses, a lot of Demin and linen. The Dark Denim Kirsty stretch trousers and the Sophie pure cotton cardigan, are very much my style. (Linda is wearing the Sophie stripe VELCRO® Brand Fastening / Fasteners cardi, styled with her favourite smart navy trousers and white t-shirt for a classic nautical look).

We must say, this outfit is the perfect combination of smart/casual and you look so elegant!

How do you believe adaptive clothing can help you?

How we dress is who we are and even though I am now 74, I wouldn't wish to change how I dress just because of my age

I think the Able Label seem to have it right with what you have already achieved. I don’t have trouble with buttons and zips as yet, but the time may come and at that time I wouldn’t want to change to a different way of dressing. How we dress is who we are and even though I am now 74 I wouldn’t wish to change how I dress, just because of my age.

We love your current style and you definitely shouldn't have to sacrifice it with time!

What would you like to see more of in adaptive fashion ranges?
Perhaps you could look at introducing more trousers as I have always been a trouser/jeans lady.

What are you most looking forward to post lockdown?

Post lockdown I am looking forward to visiting my family and seeing friends giving them all loads of hugs, especially those who don’t live on my doorstep. I will not wish to go on a plane in a hurry and wonder off to sunny climates!

 ----------------------------------------------------

We are so looking forward to lots of hugs too Linda , we are sending a virtual one to you! Thank you so much for taking time to chat, and we hope to see you in person again soon.

Keep an eye out for more catch-ups with our VIP ladies in the coming weeks.
